Agnes Huber Obituary

Agnes (Thomas) Huber, 86, of Villa Grove, IL, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 05, 2022 with her family by her side.

Agnes was the daughter of Deliah and Walter Thomas of Hugo, IL.  She was the youngest of 11 children.

She is survived by her children: Laura Boswell, grandchildren Sarah (Chris) Jones, great grandchild Harper, Andrew (Lindsey) Boswell, great grandchildren Gavin and Grant, and Lindsey Boswell.  Charles Huber.   Lisa Tibbetts, grandchildren Ashley (Cory) Benner, great grandchildren Evelyn and Helena, Cole Tibbetts and Kylie Russell, Cory (Caleb) Simms, great grandchildren Ella and Jack, and Will Tibbetts.  Peggy (Marc) Mixell, grandchildren Megan and Molly.  One sister Faye (Ed) Hettinger, sister in-laws:  Joan and Madonna Thomas and many nieces and nephews.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Jake Fitzsimmons, Walter, Billy, Chuck, Harley and Frank Thomas.  Sisters:  Leota Goldsberry, Peggy Jacobs, Gloria Jones, and son in-law Joe Boswell.

Agnes was very proud of her family. She would take any opportunity to pull out her “brag book” to show pictures of her children, grandchildren and extended family. She always made sure to support them at their many events. Whether it was dancing at their wedding or cheering them on at a ball game, Aggie was there!

Agnes never knew a stranger, always had a story and an encouraging word.  In her many moves throughout her life, she made and kept her friends. She loved receiving letters to keep up with their lives, and to share about what was going on in hers. She had a great sense of humor and her laughter could fill a room. Agnes was an avid card player with Euchre being her game of choice.  Everyone wanted to be on Aggie’s team!  You gained bragging rights on the rare occasion that you bested her.  She enjoyed watching all sports but it was a well-known fact that the St. Louis Cardinals held her heart.  Friends and family showered her with Cardinal memorabilia as witnessed when you visited her home. Agnes was very well-known for wearing her many eclectic hats. Many of her friends and family added to her collection over the years. You could find her at the VFW on Friday nights sporting a hat, and hopefully yelling, “BINGO!”

There will be a memorial service at Victory Church in Camargo at 1pm on Friday, November 11th.  Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery in Hugo following the service for family.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
