Barbara J. Hillard

Barbara Hillard, 92, of Camargo Illinois, entered peacefully into the presence of the Lord on August 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home.

Born September 2, 1932, in Bourbon, Illinois, Barbara was the daughter of the late Leonard and Thelma (French) Tay. She was a lifelong, devoted Christian whose faith guided every aspect of her life.

Barbara graduated from Villa Grove High School in 1950, where she met the love of her life, George “Itch” Hillard. The two married in 1952 and built a beautiful life together, raising three daughters.

After attending beauty school, Barbara enjoyed doing hair in her home, where many friendships were made. She found joy in music, especially playing the piano and organ, and cherished her time living on the lake. She delighted in watching her children and grandchildren fish and treasured her daily coffee.

Above all, Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughters Georgianna, Linda, and Susan; her grandchildren John Frye (Sara Kelemetc), Jenna Frye, Kyle Olson, and Kevin Olson (Athalie Sosa); and her great-grandchildren Cohen, Sullivan, and Simon Frye. She

was preceded in death by her husband, George Hillard, and her siblings, Neal Tay and Marilyn Hancock.

At Barbara’s request, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her Memorial Fund, payable to Joines Funeral Home.
