Beverly A. Deptula

Beverly A. Deptula, 81, of Fisher passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Heritage Health in Gibson City.

Beverly was born on December 4, 1941 in Tuscola, IL to Max and Betty (Culton) Martin.  She married John Wamsley on July 9, 1960; he preceded her in death.

She is survived by five children, Catherine (Kyle) Sprau of Fisher, Susan (Darrell) Chase of Gibson City, Angela (Tom) Hawkins of Tuscola, Kimberly (Rick) Sparrow of O’Fallon, and John “Marty” (Nancy) Wamsley of Llano, TX; 9 grandchildren, Steven, Adam, John, Christian, Connor, Culton, Catherine, Lydia, and Landen; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; four sisters, Karen (Larry) Gross, Kathy Haskins, LaDonna (Mike) Moehring, and Valerie (Don) Kappel; brother-in-law Phil Landes and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Judy Landes.

Beverly graduated from Newman High School in 1959.  She would go on to work for Carle Hospital in Urbana for 18 years before she retired.  She then went to college in Texas and would graduate with a degree in nursing.  With that degree she got a job working in home health and would do that for many years; she loved to take care of people.

Beverly enjoyed watching sports and was a big Cardinals, Packers, and Illini fan.  She was an avid reader, gardener, and loved to sew.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Joines Funeral Home (Newman) with the funeral service beginning at 12 p.m.; pastor Justin Smith will be officiating.  Burial will follow at the Newman Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Newman.
