Christopher G. Gordon, 52, of Newman passed away at Carle Hospital on Sunday, March 9, 2025 with his loving family by his side.
Chris was born on June 28, 1972 in Decatur, IL to Robert Gordon and Caroline (Botts) Dague. He married Shannon Lewis on November 18, 1995 in Newman.
He is survived by his parents, Robert (Dorothy) Gordon and Caroline (Morris) Dague; wife, Shannon Gordon; three children, Jacob Gordon, Emma (Patrick Bell) Gordon, and Caleb Gordon; two siblings, Rob (Leslie) Gordon and Ashley Dague; mother-in-law Norma Lewis; brother-in-law Steve (Jen) Lewis and one nephew and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and father-in-law Max Lewis.
Chris graduated from Newman High School in 1990 and spent several years working for Albin Farm’s. In 2010 he began farming for his father-in-law and took over the family farm after Max’s health declined in 2016. Chris drove semi and most recently has been driving for Frazee Trucking. Chris also worked for Newman township plowing snow, and served 16 years on the city council.
Chris was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and was always first to make a joke and then laugh with that infectious laugh he had. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors and toy tractors, hunting, camping at Horseshoe Lake, going on side-by-side rides with his family and friends, and loved to sing and dance.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Joines Funeral Home in Newman. Funeral service will be held the following day at 10 a.m. with Jared Pollock officiating also at the funeral home; burial will follow at the Newman Cemetery.
