Christopher J. Grafton, 48, of Newman passed away at his home on Monday, May 20, 2024.
He was born on December 25, 1975 in Charleston, IL to Randy and Jeri (Hanna) Grafton.
He is survived by his three children, Gwyneth, Kyler, and Kennedy Grafton; his parents, Randy and Jeri Grafton; two brothers, Craig (Joanna) Grafton and Cole (Lindsey) Grafton; and seven nieces and nephews, Jacob, Hanna, Lilly, Elsie, Nolen, Louis, and Sophrona.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kermit and Lillian Grafton; and maternal grandparents, Allen and Geneive Hanna.
He completed Shiloh High School and went on to graduate Lakeview College of Nursing with a bachelors. At the end of his career, he worked at Newman Nursing Home where he made an impact on his community.
Chris had many passions throughout his life. He loved skateboarding, and playing basketball. He loved sports and was a Cubs, Bears, and Bulls fan. Music was his most beloved hobby and he spent a lot of time playing the guitar. He played alongside his brother and friends in the local band Dick Whiskey. He had an amazing wit about him and loved to joke around and quote from movies to put smiles on your face.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Newman American Legion.
Chris loved being a father. In lieu of flowers the Chris Grafton Memorial Fund will be set up for Kyler and Kennedy's education at the First Neighbor Bank in Newman.
