Danica Tewell was born January 28, 1928 in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia to Elsa and August Duhovink. She passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Danica worked at the Champaign County nursing home for 30 yrs prior to retiring to take care of her mother. She was a strong, hardworking woman who helped all in her path. Her family always came first, and she created a beautiful childhood for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Danica was a dedicated and loyal member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Villa Grove. She was selfless and endlessly put everyone before herself. She nurtured and fostered memories that will last a lifetime. Her family is forever grateful for her love and strength.
Danica was preceded in death by 2 brothers, a sister, mother and father. She is survived by her sons Thomas Tewell and John Tewell (Carol A.), daughter Mary Tewell; Nephew Oscar “Butch” Duhovnik; grandchildren Carrie Freeze (Aaron), Amy Tewell, John Khalil, Taron Burns, Mallory Tewell, Brendon Sigler and Kelsey Phipps (John Lessaris); great grandchildren, Mytchel Freeze (Yui), Camlynn Freeze, Westyn Freeze and Theodore Lessaris; great, great grandchild Renn Freeze.
Visitation and funeral will be held November 9, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Villa Grove. Visitation begins at 9am with Mass starting at 10am. Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery in Pesotum, following Mass.
