Debra Sue Minott, age 52, of Newman Il, passed away at home on April 7, 2026. A resident of Newman most of her life, Debra was a vibrant soul who brought warmth and light to everyone she met.
Debra was known for her quiet energy and a smile that could brighten the darkest room. She never met a stranger, whether a lifelong friend or passerby, everyone was greeted with the same genuine kindness. She found her greatest joy in serving and taking care of others, always the first to lend a hand whenever it was needed.
She graduated from Newman High School in 1991 and would later attend Greenville College and Belmont University. A dedicated employee of Ameren for 25 years (IBEW51), Debra had a love for the outdoors and nature. At home she was a devoted “pet parent” to her dog Quincy and her cats Indy and Oliver. Above all, Debra loved her family fiercely. She was happiest around the nieces, nephews and especially the babies she loved beyond measure. She served her community for years as a first responder and volunteer firefighter. She was a part of the Douglas County Search and Rescue, and the Newman Fire and EMT. She was also a volleyball coach at both Shiloh and Chrisman.
Debra is survived by her spouse of 28 years Tally Bauer, her mother, Susan Fraser, step-mom, Cindy Minott, her brothers, James Minott and Ross (Kathy) Minott, her sisters Laura (Eric) Shuster, Rachelle Klopfenstein, Stacey (Michael) Means, Shea (Wes) Temples, Audrey Minott. Also, Matthew (Madison) Rideout, who is as close as a brother to them. She also leaves behind a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Minott and her step father Mark E. Fraser, who surely met her at heaven’s gates with open arms.
The family is taking this time to remember her in the good times and share her memories. In keeping with Debra’s vibrant spirit, a Celebration of Life will be held from 11:30am - 2:30pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Corn Crib in Newman.
Memorial donations may be made to the Newman Fire Department.
