Dorothy Smith, 83, of Villa Grove passed away on June 17, 2024 in Newman, Illinois. She was born on November 26, 1940 in Villa Grove, Illinois. She was a lifelong resident of Villa Grove. She graduated high school in 1959. She married her late husband, Ronald, on November 16, 1974. She was a co-owner/operator of D&R Trucking Service with her husband.
She is survived by her children; Jody Eversole of Villa Grove, Jason (the late DeDe) Eversole of Pesotum;, and Cassandra (Rory) Eversole-Gunter, of Villa Grove, step son Tim Smith (Tracy) of Villa Grove; Step daughter Jodi Lynn of Arkansas and her grandchildren Jacqueline Smith of Villa Grove, Jason (Shelby) Eversole of Villa Grove, Alyssa (Clayton) Hudson of Urbana, Garrett (Lindsay) Gunter of Villa Grove, Gavin Gunter of Villa Grove, Spenser, Breleigh, and Maris Eversole all of Pesotum. She also has five great-grandchildren: Jake, Paisley, and Jase Eversole of Villa Grove, Everleigh Hudson of Urbana, and Grey Gunter of Villa Grove. Her brother Bill (Barbara) Page of Champaign, and sister Barbara (the late Joe) Kappes of Pesotum, and her little dog and sweet companion Zoe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald W. Smith, the father of her children Leland Eversole, infant twins Mary Anne and Mark Anthony, stepsons Ronnie Ray and Rodney “Red” Smith; her siblings Teddy, Richard, Nancy, Charlotte, Freddie, Mary Jo, and Rosella, her mother Mary Page, father Fred Page, and daughter-in-law DeDe Eversole.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and spoiling her dogs. In her free time, she liked cooking, tending to her plants, and gardening. She is already greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A private service will be held for the family on Sunday, June 23 in Villa Grove.
