Durward Lee Heubel II, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at The Waters of Covington in Covington, IN.
Durward was born to Durward and Norma Jane Heubel (Joseph) April 7, 1952 in Paris Illinois.
He is survived by his only child, a daughter Leann Heubel, sister Dawn Martin (Jones) and 5 grandchildren. Nicole Boyles 17, Blain Heubel 15, Lillian Lunt 14, Travis Heubel 12, and Cheyenne Doty 10.
Durward, better known as Lee, began working at Danville Metal Stamping in 1972, at the age of 20, and retired in 2019. He was a devoted father first and foremost, and later became a beloved "papa". As a child and young adult, Lee enjoyed electric model trains, assembling the electric tracks, fishing with his cousin Tim Joseph, and his friends. Later in life he enjoyed antique cars, and attended numerous car shows with his sister Dawn and her husband Todd. They traveled the famous Route 66 and would visit the James Dean memorial car shows.
He would often spend time with his beloved pets Toby and Fluffy, while listening to music at home. He was and will always remain a kind, loving, and caring soul, an amazing devoted dad, brother, son and papa, and an all-around remarkable man who will be truly missed beyond words.
A visitation will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Joines Funeral Home in Newman, IL. Graveside service will be at 3:15 p.m. following the visitation at Young America Cemetery North of Hume, IL.
