Elizabeth Hope Arbuckle-Ortega, 61 of Decatur was called home by God on November 19, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born September 19, 1964 in Tuscola, IL to James and Mable Catherine (Meserve). She is survived by her husband Jonas Ortega.
Hope was a loving mother to Nikki (Glenn) Maulding of Villa Grove, Katie (Chris) Gill of Bethany, Joshua and Jarrod Murfin of Decatur, Amber (Frankie) Guzman of Arcola, and Justin Williams of Decatur. She was affectionately known as Nana by Liliana Smith, Gabriel Smith and Kamryn Gill. She is also survived by her siblings James Arbuckle Jr. (Joanne), Mary Lou Kellems (Casper), Jimbo Arbuckle and her sister-n-law Patty Arbuckle and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents, her brother, Tony Arbuckle and nephew Scott Arbuckle.
Affectionately known as Hope “Hopey” by her siblings, nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren. She was a fighter and fought her cancer battle till God took her hand and led her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Joines Funeral Home (Villa Grove) with Pastor Spencer Mcpheron Officiating. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery in Villa Grove. Visitation will be 2 hours prior (noon to 2pm) to the funeral service.
