Evelyn E. Foster

Evelyn E. Foster, 95, of Newman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Evelyn was born on August 20, 1927 in Block Station to Ernest and Josephine (DeWitt) Leerkamp. She married Charles “Bud” Foster on December 31, 1949 in Calhoun Falls, SC.

She is survived by five children, Randal (Delores) Foster, Terry (Lisa) Foster, Cindy Foster, Sharon Grywacheski, and Brenda Foster; six grandchildren, Greg (Christina) Foster, Sara (Matt) Wolfersberger, Amanda Dysart, Shelby Grywacheski, Hunter Farthing, and Miles Farthing; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pat Grubb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one son David Foster.

Evelyn started her life growing up in Block Station and would graduate high school in Covington, IN.  She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Newman and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, but most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and was a big part in all of their lives.  She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the First Christian Church in Newman with Pastor Justin Smith officiating; burial will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery.  A visitation will be held an hour prior to the funeral service (1 p.m. - 2 p.m.) at the church.
