Evelyn J. Howard

Evelyn J. (Eggers) Howard, 83, of Villa Grove, IL went home with God at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 with her husband holding her.

Evelyn was born January 18, 1942 in Toledo, IL a daughter of William and Bertha Eggers.  She married Dwight Howard on April 10, 1958.  They had one daughter Kimberly who passed away on September 28, 2020.

She is survived by her husband; one sister Sharon Oakley of Toledo, IL; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Dee Eggers of Toledo, IL, Esther Odle of Robinson, IL, and Naomi Miller of Newman, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack, Bob, Roy, and Wayne; sisters Norma, Beverly, Marion, Lois, and infant sister Iva.

Evelyn attended Cumberland High School. She worked at the outlet mall in Tuscola, IL and as a cafeteria aid at Villa Grove High School for many years.

She loved God, her family, her little dogs, and her flower gardens.  She also loved helping Dwight mow, and taco Tuesday.  She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, and friend.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Villa Grove.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Camargo Cemetery.  Pastor Mike Zylstra and Ted Shearer will be officiating.
