Evelyn Anne Maxwell

Evelyn Anne Maxwell, 86, of Arthur (formerly of Longview) passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Arthur Home in Arthur, IL.

Anne was born on July 9, 1937, to Glen and Bessie (Senter) Hood. She married Donald J. Maxwell on April 24, 1965, in Bongard, IL and spent 55 wonderful years together before he passed away in April of 2020.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister Glenna Marie Boyd.

Anne is survived by two brothers, Wayne (Mary) Hood and Lyle (Carol) Hood, and many nieces and nephews.

Anne grew up and went to school in Longview, IL where she graduated from Longview High School in 1955. She married Donald J. Maxwell in April of 1965. She worked for A.G. Edwards in Champaign as a secretary for 40+ years. Anne was an important part of her work which she loved so much. Numbers were her thing and she enjoyed trading long after she was done working. Anne truly enjoyed spending time with her husband Don, family, and friends. Anne and Don loved traveling and went to almost every state in the U.S. They both loved their home in the country which was truly their piece of heaven. Anne also loved cooking, but her favorite thing was gambling. Penny slots and poker were some of her favorites which she was very lucky at. Anne lived a great life and enjoyed every bit of it. She would say “You have to have the right mind set. Walk in and know you’re going to win”. Anne will be greatly missed by family and friends

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Bongard Cemetery in Bongard at 2:00 p.m.; Pastor Justin Smith will be officiating.
