Gladys M. Wood

Gladys M. Wood, 81, of Hume passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Arcola Health Care Center in Arcola, IL.

Gladys was born to Howard and Lorriane (Walker) Deckard on August 29, 1942.  She married Richard Wood on September 18, 1960 in Hume, IL.

She is survived by four children, Richard E. Wood Jr., Robert Wood, Randal Wood, and Rodney Wood; one grandson, Thomas Joshua Wood; one great-granddaughter, Laney Lynn Larkin-Wood; eight siblings, Mary McGuire, Larry Deckard, Bill Deckard, Tom Deckard, Steve Deckard, Lora Deckard-Smart, Carl Deckard, and Doug Deckard; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lorriane Deckard; one brother, Harold Deckard; one sister-in-law, Jane Deckard; and two nieces.

Gladys loved to be outside doing yardwork and working in her garden.  She would can anything and everything that she was able to grow.  She loved to help people and even took care of a few elderly ladies in Hume.

Private family services will be held.
