Hershel E. Hooven

Hershel E. Hooven, 87, of Charleston passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. 

Hershel was born on October 16, 1934 in Cave in Rock, IL. 

He is survived by two sons, Jack (Barb) Hooven and Mike Hooven; 4 grandchildren; one sister; and his ex -wife of 44 years Cora Agan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sister.

Hershel was a coal miner in Murdock for many years, was a carpenter and built many homes in Camargo, and drove a semi for many years before he retired.  He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Villa Grove.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Joines Funeral Home (Villa Grove) with Pastor Sam Carr officiating and Pastor Faith Carr playing the piano.  Burial will follow at the Embarrass Cemetery in Redmon, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Harvest Worship Center.
