Howard Kiser III Obituary

Howard P. Kiser III, 50, formerly of Villa Grove, IL passed away at his home on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Howard was born to Howard J. II and Sonna L. (Southard) Kiser in Paris, IL on July 8, 1974.

He is survived by his mother, Sonna (Richard) Lucas; two daughters, Alexis and Lauren Kiser; two brothers, Nathan (Carrie) Kiser and Andrew Kiser; one niece, Piper Kiser; three nephews, Gavin, Jairus, and Jonathan Kiser; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard J. Kiser II; paternal grandparents, Howard L. I and Virginia Kiser; and maternal grandparents, Raymond and Alberta Southard.

Howard worked for many years at the SuperValu in Champaign and Gire Roofing of Villa Grove, where he learned many valuable skills that transitioned him into his future careers in carpentry and truck driving. He was a carpenter in Union Local 243 and worked on many projects during his time in the union; some of his most prideful work included work on many University of Illinois campus projects, the Urbana Aquatics Center, and the Champaign County courthouse. After his time in the carpenters' union, he set out on eighteen wheels and drove a semi for many local farmers and small businesses throughout central Illinois.

He graduated from Villa Grove High School in 1992, where he enjoyed playing football as #55. He later returned to the field to coach the Villa Grove junior football league. He later studied at Lake Land College and Parkland College and became a licensed CDL driver.

Howard enjoyed spending time with his daughters, Alexis and Lauren, his beloved dog MarMar (Marley), and the rest of his family. MarMar and Howard were the best of friends, and have traveled all over the United States together, sharing meals and enjoying each other's company. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing, boating, and traveling. Howard was a great chef, like an aspiring Guy Fieri, and loved to barbeque. He connected with music and was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet, and he never met a stranger. He was a great artist, and he enjoyed drawing throughout his childhood, which he carried with him throughout his life.

The memorial services will be held at the Villa Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 10th. The visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Shine Doughty officiating. Howard will take his final ride before enjoying the streets of gold to Edgar Cemetery in Paris, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Villa Grove High School Football Program.
