James W. Millsap, 84, of Villa Grove passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Jim was born to Charles Sr. and Edith (Hammer) Millsap on April 29, 1940 in Murdock, IL. He married Marlene Tuttle on April 6, 1962 in Villa Grove and spent 61 wonderful years together before her passing in February of 2024.
He is survived by two children, Marcia (Bryan) Cornwell and Mark (Mindy) Millsap; seven grandchildren, Michael Millsap, Hali Millsap, Landyn Millsap, Harper Millsap, Kash Millsap, Kiecia Millsap, and Mason Cagle; and great-granddaughter, Alivia Cagle; four siblings, Delbert Millsap, Margaret Czerwonka, Darrell Millsap, and Orlena Pruitt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Millsap; parents, Charles Sr. and Edith Millsap; one son, James Michael Millsap, and three brothers, Charles Millsap Jr., Hans Millsap, and Carl Millsap.
Jim spent 46 years at Allerton Supply Co. and managed the Bongard location for 42 of those years. Jim really enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to go camping, fishing, boating, and even enjoyed hunting. One of his favorite places to go with his family and friends was Lake Shelbyville. Growing up Jim had horses and loved to ride them, and that passion continued on throughout his life as he still wanted to ride horses and did just that even in his later years. Most of all, Jim loved his family and the time he spent with them.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the Joines Funeral Home in Villa Grove with the funeral service beginning at 2p.m.; Pastor Duane Piercy will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Villa Grove Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
