Junior Paul Evans, 83, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. He was born November 14, 1941, the son of Dumas and Freda Evans. He and Nancy Smith Spears were married on March 14, 1993. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2014.
JP is survived by his daughters Jody (Doug) Stoerger and Dawn (Allen) Hockett and son Dusty (Shannon) Spears, and grandchildren James (Krystle) Moore, Douglas Stoerger, Eli Stoerger, Alaina (David) Browne, Cale Fieldbinder, Dakota Spears, Jacob Spears, MacKenzie Spears, as well as several great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Jean Davis, Ray Evans, Bernice (Tim) Wingler, Carlene George and Barry Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Marlena (Greg) Moore and granddaughter Wendy Stoerger.
JP was well known for his love of classic cars and motorcycles, and was affectionately known as "Sidell's Teenager". He also had a deep connection with classic country and hillbilly music. He and Nancy enjoyed numerous hours cruising the rural roads of Vermilion, Edgar and Champaign Counties in their Cutlass convertible while listening to some great tunes. JP never met a stranger, always had a nostalgic story to share, and loved reminiscing his glory days spent with the love of his life. Anyone who knew him knew how much he loved and missed his companion, Nancy. While those he left mourn his departure, may they find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his true love.
JP relocated to Central Illinois from Tennessee in his teenage years. Initially working as a farmhand for several local farmers. Later, he worked for Sparks Electric and Jamaica Schools, prior to his retirement.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Sidell Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held the following day (Friday, February 14) at 10:30 a.m. also at the Sidell Baptist Church; Pastor Craig Roller will be officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sidell Baptist Church or Food Pantry Sidell Baptist Church.
