Libbie C. Aydelotte

Libbie Charmien Aydelotte, 91, of Newman, Illinois, died April 5, 2026. She was surrounded by family as she left her earthly body and entered the presence of her Savior.

Libbie was born on February 13, 1935, to Rufus and Elsie (McBride) Duckworth. She spent her life loving and caring for those around her. Before his passing, she and her husband, Jerry Aydelotte, loved to travel, dance, and spend time with friends. She loved food and serving it to others—some know this from her time running the Walnut Point concession stand or serving ice cream on the Newman square at J&L Sweet Treats. Others know this from the many meals she made for her church or for members of the community during her time as a devoted member of the Newman First Church of God. Those who know this best are the family members who shared many meals and family dinners around her table. One of her greatest joys was loving and caring for her family.

Libbie is survived by her children, Patty Reed and Sam (Heather) Skinner; a whole gang of grandchildren she helped to raise: Briana (Kyle) Lawson, Allison (Logan) Park, Abbigail Skinner, Samantha Skinner, Caleb Brown, Dylan Skinner, and Kennedy Brown; and her great-grandchildren, whom she adored: Beckett Lawson, Brynleigh Lawson, Lainey Park, Emersyn Lawson, Tinsley Park, and Charlie Fredrick. She is also survived by her siblings, Paul (Edie) Duckworth and Louise Hance.

Libbie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jerry Aydelotte, Bill Gordon, and Carl Skinner; her brother-in-law, Ronnie Hance; and her infant daughter, Katherine Skinner.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 10, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Joines Funeral Home in Newman, with graveside services to follow immediately after at Newman Cemetery.

Libbie requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Douglas County Animal Shelter, or the Newman American Legion.
