Lois Faith Pugh, 100, peacefully departed this life on January 19, 2025 to continue her eternal journey.
She was born June 10, 1924 to John and Grace Taylor on the farm south of Homer. Lois married Lowell Allen Pugh on October 29, 1943 in Tuscola. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1975.
Lois attended elementary school at Vermillion Bridge, a one room country school house. She graduated from Allerton High School in 1943. She was a homemaker and worked part-time at the Allerton post office. After moving to St. Joseph and then Urbana, she worked for Carson Pirie Scott and Bergner’s for over 30 years. Later she worked at Fannie Mae Candies at Lincoln Square. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and walking at the mall.
Lois is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Jean) Stewart of Rossville and a son Bruce Pugh of Tuscola. Six grandchildren: Carrie (Jeff) Derico, Tracy (Bradley) Grissom, Amber (Joshua) Blackford, Charity (Dan) Fulkerson, Mark (Beth) Pugh, and Brad (Jennifer) Pugh; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Hedi Pugh, parents, husband, brother Oscar Taylor, sister Mable Crawford, five half-brothers, Dale, Paul, Ralph, Don, and Rick, and one half-sister, Jean Martinie, and step-mother, Robeka Taylor.
The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude for all the staff at Country Health and Rehab, Gifford, IL. Thank you for the love and care you gave mom, grandma, and great-grandma over the years!
Visitation will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. with services immediately following at the Joines Funeral Home in Newman, IL. Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Allerton Methodist Church.
