Lowell Thomas Gire

Lowell Thomas Gire, 89, of Champaign passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Haven of Meadowbrook in Champaign.

Tom was born on October 19, 1935 to Jesse and Kathryn (Allen) Gire in Villa Grove.  He married Inger-Johanne Fjeld on February 25, 1961 in Villa Grove.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Inger-Johanna Gire; one son, Ross Erik Gire; one sister, Judy Ludwig; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Kathryn Gire; four brothers, Charles, Wayne, James, and Edwin; and one sister, Lois.

Tom was on the Board of Managers for several years at The Oaks condos, and also served as manager of The Oaks for many years.  He was the go-to guy if anyone had questions about the building, and he was always willing to drop whatever he was doing to help anyone.  He served in the United States Army and was a collector of model trains.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

No services will be held.
