Mark Fraser of Newman passed away on May 23,2023 at home surrounded by his wife and children.
Mark was born on December 15, 1958 to Rose & Laverne Fraser. He married Susan Y. Minott (Travis) on November 10, 1978 at the First Christian Church, Newman.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Fraser, five children, James (Michelle) Minott, Laura (Eric) Shuster, Rachelle Klopfenstein, Debra (Tally Bauer) Minott, and Stacey (Michael) Means. Twelve grandchildren, Shane (Amy) Bailey, Colin Bailey, Alexandra (Lexie) Minott, James “Mo” (Kristin) Minott, Austin (Amanda) Krohe, Landon (Lizzie) Klopfenstein, Lincoln Klopfenstein, Devyn (Alexandria) Minott, Brynna, Miya, Zayne & Zak Means. His father, Laverne Fraser, three siblings, Dawn (Russ), Eric (Tiny) & Anna, several nieces and nephews. Two great-grandchildren, Kash Klopfenstein & Rome Minott. Family would also like to recognize the one Mark took under his wing like one of his own, Matthew Rideout.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Fraser, an infant sibling and a niece.
Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids. He worked as a contractor for several years, building homes and putting on additions. He worked hard and enjoyed standing back and admiring the work he had done. He spent 33 years working as water superintendent for the City of Newman. He raised Champion Boer goats and spent years breeding and showing them and earned several awards along the way. Mark made the greatest friendships during his career with the city and within the goat community. Mark was a member of the Newman Fire Department for 26 years. He served on the Newman Township and Drainage District boards for several terms.
He is finally at peace following his hard-fought battle with cancer. The family would like to thank friends and loved ones for their visits, calls, text messages, and prayers of love and support during this most difficult time. They ask that donations be made to The Newman American Legion Post #201 in lieu of flowers. To honor Mark's last wishes, there will be no formal services.
There will be an open house style celebration of life honoring Mark at the Corn Crib in Newman on June 3rdfrom 3-7 for anyone wishing to share a favorite memory or joyful moment with the family.
