Mary V. Ellis

Mary V. Ellis, 92, of Villa Grove passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at her home. 

Mary was born on November 27, 1929 in Lorain, OH to Dominic and Susie (Didominic) Pizzola. She married Robert Ellis on March 23, 1957 in Lorain, OH.

She is survived by three children, Paul Pizzola, Lucy Johnston, and Nancy (Frank) Dowler; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Cerrie Dowler, and one sister Nancy Payne.

Mary worked at Magnavox in Champaign for around seven years, was a babysitter, and also worked at a craft store in Dearborn, MI.  She loved to cook and bake, but her favorite part was giving the cooked and baked goods to others to enjoy.  She was known by many of her family and friends as "Mother Mary". Mary was active in the Women's Christian Fellowship at the First Christian Church in Villa Grove.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Villa Grove.  Pastor Mike Zylstra will be officiating.
