Mary (Vibert) Blaney

Mary (Vibert) Blaney, 81, of Mt. Vernon passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL.

She was born on October 5, 1943 in Burkesville, KY to Benton and Lennia (Branham) Vibert.

She is survived by three children, Russell Schoen, Tammi Withrow, and Tara Blaney Smith; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Linda (Pete) Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Lennia Vibert; two children, Robert Schoen and Tylia Blaney; three siblings, Brenda Murphy, Wanda VonLanken, and Tom Vibert; and one grandson, Tyler Schaefer.

Mary graduated from Newman High School and worked as a hairdresser for several years.  She ran her own hair salon called Mary’s Silver Scissors and also worked for Headhunter’s in Villa Grove.  She retired from Capitol Metro in Austin, TX as a cab dispatcher.  Mary loved to read and enjoyed sewing as well.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Living Hope Fellowship Church in Villa Grove with a visitation beginning an hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at the Fairland Cemetery.
