Michael “Mick” Bruce Parsley, 71, of Camargo passed away Friday, February 7th, 2025 from cancer at home. Born May 7th, 1953 at Jarman Hospital Tuscola, Il.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Joe; mother, Dorothy; brothers: Danny and Kevin; stepsister, Jan Harvey; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his brothers: Jim (Jeannie) and Joey; stepsister, Terry Thomas; nephews: Grady, Ryan, Jason, and Travis; niece: Hanna; and many great nieces and nephews.
Mick graduated from Villa Grove High School in 1972. He played football, basketball, track, and was Prom King. He was a star wide receiver and made 1st team all-conference in 1971; they won the conference. His football team was arguably the best team that ever played at Villa Grove.
After graduation, Mick worked several years at HumCo, an iron worker, and retired from the U of I as a building service worker. He enjoyed many years of retirement while living with family. He also enjoyed watching Illini sports and old movies, fishing, listening to music, visiting with family and friends, and sitting on the back porch watching the birds and all the little animals.
Mick was one of the nicest and most generous people you could ever meet. He would do anything for you. He loved his family with his whole heart and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 16th 1 to 3pm at Joines funeral home in Villa Grove with a celebration of life at JRs immediately after.
