Minnie M. Vandeventer, 88, of Camargo passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Carriage Crossing Senior Living in Arcola.
Minnie was born to Eddie and Pearl (Bridges) Hatchel on September 12, 1936. She married the love of her life Leslie G. Vandeventer on January 15, 1955 in Villa Grove.
Minnie is survived by three children, Debbie (Larry) Hettinger, Steve (Jimmie) Vandeventer, and Mike Vandeventer; eight grandchildren, Amy (Seth) McGaughey, Lesley (Trent) Warnke, Stevie (Jimmy) Vandeventer, Tyler (Cassie) Vandeventer, Josh (Vanessa) Vandeventer, Jared (Mesha) Vandeventer, Joe Vandeventer, and Alexis (Jake Downen) Vandeventer; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Laughlin; her best friend of 73 years, Helen Hatchel; and several sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Pearl Hatchel; loving husband of 63 years, Les Vandeventer; granddaughter, Erin Lindelof; and eight siblings, Myron, Jack, Ruth, Harvey, George, Everett, Doris, and Harlan.
Minnie grew up in and called the Tuscola area home until she met Les, then they moved to Camargo and made that their home for sixty years. Les built their house in Camargo and together raised their family there. Minnie and Les made sure it was known to all that their home was a welcoming place and they brought many family members in when they needed a place to stay. Minnie was a great cook, known especially for her homemade noodles and rolls, an art she loving passed on to many family members. To Minnie, family was everything. She could always be found supporting her kids and grandkids at their school, sporting, and life events.
A private family service will be held.
