Obituary
Myrna June Hazard, 83, of Villa Grove passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana.
Myrna was born on May 20, 1939 in Waterloo, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of James and Shirley Graves Cook. She married Dale Hazard on June 2, 1972 in Vermont; he survives and resides in Villa Grove.
Myrna is also survived by her daughter, Debbie Pratt of Villa Grove; sons, Kevin (Mindy) Hazard of Chatham and Korey Hazard of Villa Grove. She is survived by her 3 beloved grandchildren: Megan Pratt and Nick and Jenna Hazard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Garth Cook; and 2 sons, John and George Murphy.
Myrna was an avid reader and movie enthusiast. She enjoyed volunteering at Villa Grove Elementary for many years after retirement where she served helping students to improve their reading skills. Myrna loved watching her grandchildren grow into the wonderful people they have become. She was a lifelong pet enthusiast and often advocated for animals in local shelters.
Myrna requested to have no funeral services. Anyone wishing to honor Myrna’s memory may do so by making a contribution to the Animal Protective League or to your local animal shelter.
