Rex E. Sigler, 82, of Villa Grove passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Rex was born on December 30, 1942 to Carl and Helen (Whittington) Sigler in Tuscola, IL.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo Sigler; daughter, Tara (Kevin) Scholey of Bedford, KY; grandchildren, Tasha (Eric) Simpson of Charlestown, IN and their children Maddox and Layla; Lacy Lauderbaugh of Hanover, IN and her daughter Jordyn; and Elijah Lauderbaugh of Madison, IN and his son Ezra; five step children; three step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; his special doggy friend Max; and many nieces and nephews.
Rex served in the Illinois National Guard for six years and then would begin working on the family farm. Rex was a farmer for over 40 years, and once retired from farming he started his own trucking business hauling grain for farmers.
When Rex wasn’t farming or hauling grain his hobbies kept him busy. He raced horses for many years, specifically Pacers, traveling all around Illinois and sometimes Indiana. He also pulled antique tractors and was very successful at it, winning first place at both the Illinois and Indiana State Fairs. He was also an avid Illini basketball and Kansas City Chiefs fan, rarely missing a game on TV.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025 with visitation being held three hours prior (11 a.m. – 2 p.m.) at the Joines Funeral Home in Villa Grove; Pam Sigler will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Camargo Cemetery.
