Rhonda Lee Berlin, 66, of Hume went to be with her Lord and savior on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
Rhonda was born in Danville, IL, to Charles and Elva Josephine Galey, on October 5, 1958. She married Randy Berlin in Hume on August 6, 1977; he survives. Rhonda’s most cherished titles were wife, mother, grandmother (Mamaw) and great-grandmother. Her family was her world. She was most recently employed at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center doing what she loved – caring for others. Rhonda was previously employed at North American Lighting in Paris, IL until she retired.
Survivors include two children Jane (Jeremy) Wakefield of Newman, Daniel (Serena) Berlin of Greenup, IL, five grandchildren Holly (Chris) Hutchinson, Tara and Cylee Wakefield; Ethan Berlin and Dakota Pendlay and one great-grandchild Frejya Hutchinson
She is also survived by six siblings, Debra (Mark) Kincaid of Sidell, Eugene (Brenda) Galey of Parsons, TN, David (Diane) Galey of Winchester, IN, Robert (Sharon) Galey of Ellabell, GA, Anita Dorene (Mark) McCollum of Atwood and Jamie (Jeff) Robertson of Hillsdale, IN; her father-in law Raymond (LaDonna) Berlin of Sidell, brother-in-law Terry (Cathy) Berlin of Charleston; step-mother Celesta Galey of Paris and five extended siblings, Patrick (Jane) Smothers of Phelps, WI, Deanna (Ben) Plegge of Celebration, FL, Greg (Melissa) Smothers of Georgetown, IN, T.J. (Mary-Lou) Johnson of West Terre Haute, IN, and Wesley Johnson of Paris, along with several nieces and nephews, and her beloved furry companions Smokey, Molly and Duke.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Galey and Elva Josephine Galey-Kern; and her mother-in law Donna Mae Berlin.
A funeral service will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 11, at Joines Funeral Home, Newman, with Dr. Aaron Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family to offset the cost of services.
