Ronald E. Smith

Ronald “Butch” E. Smith, 79, of Broadlands passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at The Waters of Covington in Covington, IN.

Butch was born to Clyde and Evelyn (Mitchaner) Smith on November 8, 1943 in Broadlands.

He is survived by one son, Ruben Smith; three grandchildren; three siblings, Darrell (Jane) Smith, Ann Humphrey, and Beverly (Steve) Kent; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Butch worked as a farm hand in the Sidney area, as a railroader, and was a truck driver for many years.  He was also a proud U.S. Army veteran.  He will be missed by all his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Joines Funeral Home in Newman with Pastor Heju Nam officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairfield Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Newman American Legion Post 201.
