Ruth A. Stebbins, 88, of DeWitt passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Haven of Farmer City.
Ruth was born on August 8, 1936 in Hindsboro, IL to William and Pauline (Williams) Utterback. She married Lawrence Stebbins Jr. on March 8, 1954 in Villa Grove.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Stebbins and Judy Stebbins; grandchildren, Christine Porcayo and Seth Stebbins; granddaughter, Cecelia Porcayo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Joy Eblin, and sisters Doris Black and Rosemary Utterback.
Ruth graduated from Villa Grove High School in 1953 and took classes at Parkland College as well.
She enjoyed being outside tending to her garden and reading. Ruth was an avid Illinois Football and Basketball fan rarely missing a game on TV. She always loved the holiday seasons because that meant she got to decorate and be around all her loved ones.
Ruth was a caregiver at heart and took care of many family members. She was a merciful and faithful person, and was always the first one to help someone if they were in need. She was a woman of great faith and had a deep personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Hugo Cemetery; Pastor Mike Zylstra will be officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Dewitt County Animal Shelter or the Douglas County Animal Shelter.
