Ruth Ann Vandeventer, 93, of Tuscola passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025 at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Ruth was born in Benton, IL to Elmos and Maurice (Howell) Williams on February 23, 1932. She married Dean Vandeventer on December 22, 1951 and spent 68 years with him until his passing in 2020.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Gary Vandeventer (Eric Bown)and Larry (Debbie) Vandeventer; five grandchildren, Jason (Sandy) Jones, Andy (Jaycilyn) Jones, Jennifer (David) Myers, Nicole (JD) Hanks, and Jason M. (Sally) Vandeventer; and twelve great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Jack, Cameron, Cohen, Grady, Sloane, Stella, Jaden, Cooper, Marley, Ariella and Castiel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmos and Maurice Williams; her brothers, Jim and Bill Williams; husband, Dean Vandeventer; and one daughter, Julia Jones (Robert, Jr.).
Ruth was a constant figure in downtown Newman, working at Bauter Chiropractic for over 30 years. She was an avid Illini and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren play sports, rarely missing any of their games. She also enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo.
Family services will be held at a later date.
