William “Bill” Gene Dann, 74, entered the gates of heaven on May 1, 2026 surrounded by his family. Bill was born December 26, 1951 to Lois “Joann” Joan (Smock) Davis in Litchfield, IL. Bill was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran. He later went on to be a pawnbroker and run his own business in Charleston, IL. His final working years were spent doing heating and air conditioning with Rex Wright in Tuscola, IL. His favorite pastimes were drag racing, rummage sales, watching Nascar, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by 4 children: Amie and Gene Greenwood of Iron Mountain, MO, Brian and Crystal Dann of Urbana, IL, Brad Dann of Palm Coast, FL, and Bart and Salisa Dann of Camargo, IL, 10 grandchildren: Brett Fogle, Brittany Stokes and Becca Fogle-Coatney all of Litchfield, IL, Chris and Ally Dann of Arcola, Taylor and Ruben Lopez of AL, Gage Dann and Chase Dann of Camargo, IL, Jeffery Dann, Alyssa Dann and Gabe Dann all of Palm Coast, FL, and fourteen great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving is his sister Dorthy (Tom) Goff of Tuscola, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews that were dearly loved. If you knew Bill, you knew he was full of stories from his ornery days as a child or his fun-loving days as a grandpa. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Joann Davis, stepfather Robert Davis, brother Kenneth Dann, and sister Alberta “Bert” Hankins.
A memorial service along with full military rights will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 12 pm with a visitation being held two hours prior (10-12pm) all at Joines Funeral Home in Villa Grove, IL with Pastor Duane Piercy officiating. The burial will be immediately following at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Camargo, and Paul Henson will be playing the bagpipes.
